Hey guys I have a 1999 f250 SD v10 4x2. My trans is shot. I'm pretty sure I have the 4r100 tranny. Anyone know if a 2001 f250 v10 4x2 trans would be the same and work in my truck? Thx

I would expect the 2001 V10 trans would bolt right up to your 1999 V10 engine. Since they both are 4x2 you should be good on the tail end as well.
Hey, gotta question seeing if anyone could help I have a 2001 f250 7.3 with the 4r100 trans 2nd trans btw. But when I go to put it in drive and take off the od light flashes and as I give step on the peddle it goes then stops then goes then stops like hesitating same for reveres but then once it starts rolling its fine until I come to a stop then the lite comes back on an then back to the stop n go game. I just changed the shift cil. The censer on top in the rear befor transfer case and the gas peddle and a censer on the motor.. This is driving me nutts!!!! Can anyone help me? Please. An thank u.
There are two ways to fix this. First, you can continue the way you are going. I'll list all the parts on the trans, engine, and truck that might have some affect. You'll buy these parts and install them. If that doesn't fix it, I'll list more parts and you can spend more money.
The other way is to get the codes read. When the OD OFF light flashed one or more codes were stored in the computer. They will stay there at least a month since the last time the light flashed. With the codes I can usually tell you right where the problem is. The places that read codes free CANNOT read these codes. You'll need to pay a good independent shop or a Ford dealer to read them.

Mark, I was meaning shift solenoid and I just changed the speed sensor today and it's still doing the same thing I just had a guy look at it today n he told me it was the speed sensor so I went bought it n changed it and went for a drive n it's still doing it?!?! Would unhooking the bartty help any to reset the computer?
Speed sensor? Which one? There are three, did you change the right one? Other than someone knew there is a speed sensor how did he know? Or have you decided that option one, below, is how you're going to fix this?

There are three speed sensors. Change them. Change the Transmission Range Sensor. Change the engine and transmission wiring harness. Change the accelerator pedal assembly with all of it's sensors. Change the tone ring in the rear axle. Change the wiring harness to the rear axle speed sensor. Change the PCM. Change the transmission.
Let me know if changing all of those fixes the problem. If not, I can think of other things to change.
Or....

If my OD light ever even so much as blinks at me I am turning at the next corner and going to straight to a transmission shop to get the codes read. Then I will get on here and post a thread titled "transmission problems" I will tell Mark my symptoms immediately followed by the codes provided to me by the scan from the transmission shop. Then I will make an informed decision on how to proceed.....based on what the shop tells me as compared to what Mark tells me.
Been wanting to say that for a long time! I have read it probably 100 times...... and Mark I'm impressed by your ability to say it "somewhat calmly" one more time.
Throwing parts at these trucks is more expensive than doing it right
the first time. In fact for the price of some of the not needed parts
you could buy a nice scan tool that CAN read the Ford specific codes.
I happened to find a decent deal on a junkyard tranny, but to keep the 6 month warranty valid I have to change all the external seals. Anyone know which seals they are referring to besides the tail shaft seal? Thx
They mean the ones that they want changed. My mind reading crystal ball is in the shop getting it's codes read. I'd ask them specifically what seals they require you to change.
I would change the torque converter hub seal for a seal made from Viton, the manual lever shaft seal, and the output shaft seal, and if it is a 4x2 trans I'd change the output shaft bushing, too.
