Laptop data logging

I am wanting to hook up my laptop and do some data logging/ gauge readings on my truck. What programs do you guys know of? What do you guys use? I know not every program can see hpop readings but I will want them. Let me know what you run. Thanks

Vgk,
Please check out the Tech Folder, I’m sure it has a category on this very topic. Tugly has posted some very helpful info in the past on this forum.

Wow, did you come to the right place!

As AubieTN said, Tugly has some great information in the 7.3L PSD Tech Folder toward the bottom under the header "Misc Information and Modifications".

Although, other FTE'rs have contributed a ton as well!

Members like BWST who developed a PID Charting Tool. Below is a friendly video on how to use the FTE member developed user friendly charting tool.

To answer your question directly, Forscan is the program of choice when dealing with a laptop. It is much more stable and useful than TorquePro when troubleshooting. TP is nice to look at, but can be finicky and temperamental. Forscan is very solid and robust and it is free to download and use.

I use USB to my laptop for Forscan and BT to my tablet or phone for TP or Forscan Lite.

Have you tried the Bluetooth to your laptop? I have the Bluetooth already for the TP on phone. I’m sure it works on a laptop too just curious if anyone else has tried it

Yes, I have. The laptop must have a BT card or adapter in order to talk to the BT OBDII scan tool.

This was at least a couple years ago, but I ran Forscan on my laptop and connected to the truck via OBLink BT scan tool.

I use a Bluetooth OBD dongle with my laptop with Forscan and it works just fine.
