also all the parts to fix or rebuild your fuel bowl.
buy a 0-100 psi gauge off amazon then go to home depot to get the fittings and nylon tubing to hook it up.
i run out the back of the hood and in the door jamb by the mirror so i can set the gauge on the dash, you need to check pressure on a WOT pull. so right in front of the steering wheel is perfect.
ajbrown208 might not have the time to wait for something from Amazon or Diesel-O-Rings if this kit is going to be used this weekend to help rjdj1186 and his no start condition...
Using the clues that Pirate posted, you can go to Napa or a local hydraulic shop and piece something together. Just need the fitting to bowl, hose to fitting and then gauge to hose. Luckily the hose can be short like a grease gun hose at 1' and the gauge is going to be used for somewhat low pressure with low or no pulsing, so a liquid filled gauge is not required.
Hope this helps sir and once again you are very generous to help out a fellow FTE'r in need!
Local hydraulic shop for the -4orb male fitting x 1/8npt female... and 1/8npt female coupling. Then hit harbor freight for the 0-100psi liquid gauge and the 18" grease gun hose....youvuse the coupling to attach hose to gauge...
all you need
Thanks guys. It is going to be used this weekend for the fellow in MO. May just be one time use, so cheaper the better. There should be three of us up there and one guy is a real life diesel mechanic with a 7.3. Hope to get this guys truck running fairly easy or in one day. I'm going loaded for bear, but hoping for a mouse. Anybody available on-line this weekend would be nice too. Where he lives is very remote and everything runs through his internet service. Phone, email, TV..... Pray for us and send us your best.
We are towing the 5th wheel Saturday, but I will check into the FTE once we get set up. Be sure to create a new thread that is eye catching and makes it clear the advice is time sensitive if you do need to seek guidance.
I am hopeful it is something quick and obvious to a fresh set of eyes.
Can shot (worn out) O-rings for the fuel pressure regulator cause a non return in the fuel system? I understand they could leak if worn, but could it stop fuel flow altogether without leaking? Jason, do you have a parts list for in-tank pre pump mods? I guess one day I will join the hutch and harpoon crowd too.
In-tank you’ll need:
- 3/8” compression union
- 6” or so of 3/8” tubing
- you’ll cut the fill and vent lines off as close to top of tank as possible (PVC cutter)
On edit: I like to put a 90* bend on the bottom of pickup like this so I can put the suction directly on the tank bottom.
Jason, I notice you do not eliminate the quick disconnect at tank. It is my understanding that air can enter the fuel system, on the suction side thro the quick disconnect which is why most eliminate them. Any thoughts on supporting or debunking that theory? I tend to think of this theory as plausible simply because the rest of the fuel system is pressurized and should not allow any air into the system.
