New Wiper Motor?
Does anybody make new wiper motors for our trucks? If so, are they any good?
The wipers were acting up yesterday on my truck. The present motor is a NAPA reman, from at least 20 years ago. I'd like to replace it with a newly manufactured unit, but I'm not seeing any such option unless I can find a NOS unit squirreled away.
My local NAPA has reman units available, so I'm not totally up the creek. But I'm still wondering if anybody makes them new these days.
What makes you think the motor is bad and not the some what easy to replace switch?
You have intermittent wipers? If so may be the box has gone bad? Think someone said they found bad solder joints inside.

A reman (Cardone 40290). Judging by the pics, Cardone is probably the source for most remans available from different vendors.
A NEW unit from World Power Systems (WPM290). Not much online about this offering, but mixed reviews at Amazon and elsewhere:
Sounds like this unit isn't exactly a direct fit (a different arm?) and the electrical connector may not match the vehicle wiring.
The new unit is kinda tempting, but I wish it had better reviews.
Usually not, but yesterday I certainly did...

Just a hunch, based on previous experience. The wipers have acted up in the same manner on other occasions over the last 20 years. In all cases, I'd clean up the commutator and polish the little park switch contacts, and all was good again for a while. I'm ready to just replace it and hopefully never have the problem again.

love that answerSorry cant help on what motor to get but if me and the last remanf. lasted 20 years I would go for it as I would be 80 and lucky if I still had the truck & could drive it.
Oh and I guess it fits better than the new one that would be another plus.

However, I did go with another NAPA reman. Didn't drive the truck today, but hope to get the motor installed over the next day or two. Got too much other stuff going on at the same time, you know how it goes...
I did notice this reman has some sealer slobbered on the seam between the motor and gearbox. On the old one, I've noticed it looks like rainwater was getting inside. I had thought of adding some sealer, but never got around to it.
On a totally unrelated note, NAPA only charged a $1.18 core charge. The clerk and I got a good laugh over that. That's not even worth gas money to drive back to the store. I'm guessing the rebuilder has plenty of cores available.
