I got a weird scenario, crank no start, got it to start, then driving down the road shut off. 32 icp and 84.5 ipr ficm sync and voltage is good.... tore the thing apart, ipr valve had whole in screen and had a piece lodged inbetween the valve, not allowing it to close. Can i clean and place back or should i replace with a new IPR?... also air checked for leaks via IPR fitting and no air getting past anywhere... my question, there probably is a very low chance that the stc fitting hasn't been replaced with the new one, being so high miles, but with the turbo off and the HPOP cover exposed should i replace the HPOP just because im there?
owned the truck since 80k miles, bullet proofed.
any info helps thanks..
Describe the piece of metal found in the IPR valve .....
How big?
Color?
Magnetic?
etc.
I probably wouldn't just replace the IPR valve, but be aware that it might have been damaged. If you don't mind the extra labor (and possibly being stranded somewhere), then you might try re-installing it.
As far as the HPOP goes, that is a hard call. The 05 and up pumps are pretty reliable, but the metal had to come from somewhere.
Were you into the oil cooler in the recent past? Any other recent work?
