Best performance
- I'm not really a believer in air filters or even complete aftermarket intakes actually increasing power, BUT I am a fan of cleaning up the engine bay so I have zero complaints on the K&N setup for that reason alone
-the MBRP exhaust has a decent tone but like all kits was installed marginally well by some owner in his driveway with a basic Harbor Freight socket set. I fully welded one joint to stop a rattle and now I'm happy
-the SCT tuner is allegedly on a "power" tune but honestly I've never once plugged it in to play with it.
Still, I'm impressed with how the truck handles itself in the Colo mountains on 35's with stock 3.55 gearing. I suspect the tune has far and away the biggest impact.
If you want significant power gains (25-100hp) you'll need to make the motor breath significantly better. This means a full intake, larger throttle body, larger injectors, freer flowing headers and possibly the removal of the catalytic converters (not a good idea).
Depending on the condition of your Triton, you might want to consider a supercharger kit. Edlebrock makes a fairly nice, and complete, kit that should add 100 hp easy. But it ain't cheap!
By far, the simplest "seat of the pants" mod you can make is to swap taller gears, especially if you've slapped on bigger tires.
