Crawled underneath the rear of my truck today to apply some dielectric grease to some of the connectors that I’ve read about on here.
noticed a couple of connectors that had no plugs in them and I also had a purple wire just hanging down.
The two plugs side-by-side are on the driver side between the bumper and the spare tire. The little purple wire that is hanging down is in the same location.
The single plug next to the big white plug is on the passenger side between the bumper and the spare tire.
I believe the plugs in the first two pictures would be used to feed the in-bed 7-pin trailer plug. Yours have plugs in them, they’re not empty connectors.
Someone has messed around under there. I see masking tape around a connector, and over spray on it and another connector. Looks like there might be a hole added, tough to say from the pic, maybe a missing cap on one connector and that cut wire is odd.

Can you tell me which pics you're referring to? Ill crawl back under there for better pics if needed.
The wires are for in bed gooseneck prep and the other is for trailer camera. All the connectors are plugged and weather tight. I don't see any open connection. Even the purple wire is sealed.

I circled what looks like overspray, arrow pointing to hole that in that photo, looks a little rough. Not like a factory drilled hole, could be wrong. Also, arrow at connector that appears to be missing a cap, but the post above says that it's not. The purple wire may or may not be sealed, I cant tell if it's a butt connector with the wire snipped and end exposed.
The purple wires on these trucks as shown in the picture is sealed with a glue lined heat shrink from the factory. The tape is also factory on that connector, the same type of tape can be found throughout the underbody harness.

Good to know. My truck is not here, otherwise I would have compared it to these pictures. It's odd to see that tape on 1 connector out of many back there, guess that's a Ford thing haha. Im accustomed to seeing it on looms, not around exterior connectors. What is that single purple wire for?
There is tape on some of my connectors as well with no indication as to why or why not on the others... The purple wire is for a high mounted brake light if you add a cap.
