I like that. A little steep.. I'm running 71 psi at idle. Right at the limit. Have been told I could cut my spring to lower psi.
Problem with that is I just put new pump and filters in. I want to wait and see what it will be after some miles.
Then I'll decide. But I do like the adjustable regulators.

I had one for about three days and it was junk. My fuel pressure was over 85psi backed all the way out and the owner told me to grind a channel between the passages on the cover to relieve pressure. You can have the whole kit, it’s on the fuel bowl I cut off I think. I also bought parts to rebuild injectors from Accurate Diesel and they were covered in rust so I had to send it all back for replacements. Not impressive. Buy the Motorcraft blue spring kit and be done or build a regulated return.

I don't need it but maybe Visurveyor wants to have a go at it. Thanks for the review, Mac.

II would leave it alone. I've been running 70 pounds for more than a few years and have no problems (stock pump). I had an Air Dog II in it years back (nothing but trouble!) and the regulator stuck, it had my gauge pegged at 100 psi. I made it home with no damage or leaks. If you do want to lower your pressure, you can use emery paper and sand it shorter, it doesn't take much to change it.

The adjustable cover works OK with the original spring, seems the blue spring is too long -- since it is adjustable, you can set the pressure wherever you want using the old spring -- where are you taking pressure readings? at the test port or at the filter cap? The test port gives a true reading of the pressure into the fuel rails

There was a time ......

Back around 2002 when I was playing with all kinds of stuff with the 7.3L I found taking a 4-40 Allen head screw and grinding the head down to 0.065" ironically got the fuel pressure from 55 to 65 psi. I bought a box of 100 and mailed them out all over the country. A take off of the BB shimming, but you could adjust in. No different then shimming a valve spring.

I get my readings off the test port. Running Maxtow 100psi elec guage.
I was kinda saying, new pump and filters. Let's see where it settles. I'm open to adjusting psi once I see where it settles to.
Now, what is perfect pressure?
Probably opened a can of worms, but I am curious.

A 1/4" screw and thread the aluminum cover, got a ready made adjustable fuel regulator @TooManyToys.

I say 65-70 psi is about right IMHO

You couldn’t do that in the 7.3.

I’m fine in the 55-65psi range.

Now, 71 is at idle, 643 rpm. Get on it, the lowest would be 68. Sounds like "I'm good".

I spoke with the senior diesel technician at the local ford dealer about this and he said that unless there is documentation to show a recent installation he always installs a fresh Motorcraft blue spring kit any time he works on the fuel system(injectors, STC fittings, HPOP, etc,). He recommends for preventative maintenance to change every 50K. Russ

I think I'll heed advise and go ahead and replace. Not emergency replace but order and do on slow day. It's been 30000 miles or so since I put mine in, and am really not sure if was Motorcraft.

My original motor one was fine for 135k miles. My stock reman motor silver spring was fine for 75k. I would only change if my fuel pressure gauge started to show the International spring was faltering.

The aftermarket more better kits, yeah maybe 30k.
