I have recently swapped engine and transmission in my 72 F100. I cannot get the speed readings close just using the gear that inserts into the transmission. When inspecting the speedometer heads I noticed some had a number 1 on the back, some had the number 2 and some with a number 3. Not using technical equipment it seems there was difference in the movement of the needle when turning the gear by hand. Does anyone know if these numbers relate to different gearing in the speedo head for different gear ratios? If anyone can explain what the numbers mean it would greatly satisfy a curiosity problem since they were noticed.
