So, my truck is running great. Barely any stiction even when starting with an oil temp of 10 degrees F thanks to synthetic 5w40 oil. But...my injectors have at least 170k miles on them, possibly over 250k since I bought it with 84k miles already on it. Is there a point at which they should just be replaced?
i do not consider stiction to be a problem in terms of mileage, but it could be that the fuel is no longer finely nebulized due to wear of the nozzle needle. In the worst case engine damage could occur.
Unfortunately you cannot simply check the spray pattern (sorry don´t know the right technical word in english) as was possible with old style injectors:
I am working on a device with which I can manually check this "spray pattern" on 6.0 injectors. The problem is to simulate the oil pressure acting on the top of the injector.
