TREMOR Front Diff performance

Has anyone tested out the TREMOR front diff performance yet? How does the limited slip perform? I haven't seen a test of it yet..

What kind of limited slip is it? If it's a gear driven limited slip like a Torsen or Truetrac those work great in a front axle.

That's not good, a clutch type limited slip in the front axle can be dangerous for snow driving.

I haven’t seen any vids of the tremor off reading other than on Fords demo track press release. Fast lane truck ? Has a vid out with the tremor, power wagon and the at 4. But it wasn’t much of a test.

I have yet to see a tremor eon a dealers lot near me. I’m thinking of buying one. I may order one, but I want to see and drive a tremor before placing my order. I search about once a week on Fords site. No 7.3 tremors within a 100 miles of me.

Why do you say that?

With a clutch type limited slip the clutches are always applying pressure to keep both wheels spinning at the same speed. In a front axle it can cause steering issues in slick situations since both wheels will be trying to spin at the same speed, and won't want to differentiate when going around a turn. Even in 2wd with the hubs locked that would still be a problem.

Yep - poor driving in snow is why limited slips in front ends are pretty rare, especially in Domestics (all headquartered in Detroit....). If it is a clutch type, its likely pretty low break away,....a helical seems like a much better application for this.

I agree, a clutch type LS isn’t good for the front. My current truck has a Truetrac up front, and it works great. And I’ll be putting a Truetrac in the new 350 when it shows up.

So you guys are saying that for, all things equal (forget the tires, and suspension differences), winter driving the Tremor will actually be worse than a regular trim super duty because the front diff will do weird **** and actually cause reduced steering/traction up front?

The front LS uses the ABS to alter wheel slip up front and supposedly according to Ford if one wheel is off the ground the abs will apply brake pressure to limit wheel spin and transfer torque back.

well if that’s true, then that is just as stupid as the electronic locking rear diff.

Never is engaged when you need it, and when you do lock it in it cuts over a certain speed.
Terrible system for driving on unplowed roads, hunting and ice fishing where higher speeds are needed.

And to top off there stupid system requires much more often brake pad changes.

As as much as I like Ford, they definitely have some dumb features.
