Cruise Control
I have a (new to me) 2001 F150 XLT 4X4 Extended Cab, with a Triton 5.4L, and automatic transmission. I've got about 175,000 miles on it. It is equipped with cruise control, however as I press the "on" button on the steering wheel, I do not get the indicator light illuminating on the dash.
-I've checked all the fuses, both under the dash, and under the hood. All fuses are good.
-I've replaced the brake cut-off at the master cylinder.
-I've even replaced the steering wheel switches.
I still have no cruise control function. While driving at highway speed, I've attempted to use the cruise control, hoping that the dash light may have been burned out, but the truck lost speed, as the cruise did not work. What can I check next?
"Frustrated"
Cruise control switch on.
Speed above 30 mph.
Press set switch?
The light comes on 'after' you press Set.
.
After this, if the SET/ACCEL switch is pulsed, speed will increase at about 1 mph increments for adjustment as you drive.
If you pulse the COAST switch, the speed will drop a similar amount. or cut control off if held closed.
Brake application will shut the system down and light goes off.
System will auto shut down below 30 mph.
Consult the Owner manual.
I've completed those steps, as you've described. However, the cruise control still isn't working.
I've ordered a brake pedal switch, hoping that works. But if it doesn't, I'm out or thoughts.

There is a test capability right from the driver seat.
Here it is:
Press OFF switch and hold it while turning ignition to On only. CC lamp will flash once indicating you entered diagnostics..
Within 5 seconds; begin'
Release Off, operate ON then RESUME, then COAST, then SET in this sequence one at a time..
CC lamp will flash once for each switch test if there is no fault detected, otherwise a coded flash for a fault detected.
.
If there is no action to begin with and no 5 sec time out has occurred, there is no power to the system.
To reset, ignition off and try again in same manner.
Report multi flash results back.
Good luck.
