I have a 1969 F50 that came with factory air that has never worked since i've owned the truck (6 years). The system is complete parts wise, I removed the AC compressor fan belt 2 years ago. My question is. Where is a good place to start to get it going? When the the fan belt was installed i could hear the ac clutch engage when i turned it on. Thanks for your help. Al
Plan on a 134 conversion kit. Unless you have a stash of r 12. There are kits that replace the “cinder block” compressor with a Sanden round style. Replace the filter dryer, remove the condenser and flush it out with some solvent. Or get a new aluminum one and with some push on AC fittings and hose along with a vacuum pump down it should work.
This is how I converted my 67 XL using the original condenser and expansion valve. I must say it is not perfect but it cools and the wife is not complaining.
Hope this helps.
