Air conditioning

My clutch went out in my ac, and i live in az.. Its about 100 degrees outside already and i need some air. How much should it cost to get my ac workin? Is there any alternatives to ac? (dont want to hear roll your windows down... something that u can buy that may be cheaper then to get it fixed... im a college student!

Me 2 .....

I ve got a 93 Explorer XLT 4x4 auto, and I'm guessing the clutch went out on mine also.... was sitting with the air on HI and smoke started coming from under the hood along with a slight intermittent sqeaking noise (like a belt slipping, but my guess was the AC's compressor was locking up).... shut the truck off, then shut the ac off. driving since then wth no problems minus AC usage. Can someone give me a step-by-step on ac cluth replacement, including how to loosen the serpentine belt.

In this case I am guessing that the AC clutch is actually working as it is able to engage and disengage the pulley. Sounds more like the compressor itself has seized up. However, that is just a guess on my part as I do not do a lot with A/C.
