What is the charging system outputting? Computers do not like poor grounds nor low voltage.
Have you looked close at the valve cover plugs? Consider unplugging and cleaning with an agent like Deoxit.
Running fuel pressure? I cannot recall what it should be with the mechanical setup, but 55-65psi at idle sounds reasonable.
White smoke is incomplete combustion. Low HPOP pressure, poor injector atomization, weak cylinder, etc.
I recently installed a new alternator, I will check what voltage it is charging at.
I did unplug the harnesses one by one to see if there was any change while it wouldnt fire. It would go from just barely trying to fire to not firing at all when I would unplug one of the harnesses. One side is a new uvch as of maybe 2 years ago after one plug melted. Less than 10,000 miles on it since then though. I will take a close look though and clean them. I will also check fuel pressure running. It is a new mechanical pump as of a little over a year ago
Alt grounds to the bracket, so make sure it is clean where it sits. I have bought tons of parts in my life and had a few duds when new. I would check for output at the +B on the alternator, then voltage at the batteries. You should do the stuff Knotty outlined too, it is pretty easy - https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...ou-cranky.html
My truck will start with one harness unplugged...ask me how I know. Very odd yours does not try to fire with one unplugged. Do you have a spare IDM? Also I would pin out the IDM to the connectors, does not take long at all. I do not have the diagram handy, but I am sure someone on here does.
