I got into an accident while towing my 19K 5th wheel with 2015 F350 DRW 4X4 it was my fault, I rear ended a big rig at no more than 5 mph, bent the front bumper and broke the grill but no damage to the lights, air bags did not deploy either, after it hit the inertia of the 5th wheel came forward and when it hit the end it buckled the frame denting both sides of the cab corners plus it bent the hitch. The body shop is going to replace the frame because it would be unsafe to straighten it.
My question would you keep the truck after repairs? I am in favor of trading it in on a 2020 that has increased towing capacity.
I'd consider the 2020. I love how smooth everything is in it, and only after a 2 week ownership of my first new Ford vehicle - I like it better than my past 4 GMCs.
Sorry to hear about the accident. My Super duty is my first so I can't compare it to a prior year other than to say that when I was shopping I was unimpressed with the towing capacity of the 2016 trucks.
Despite the 2020 being a mild update there are a lot of improvements, even over the 2017-2019. Increased engine power, new 10 speed transmission, improved ride quality, lower stance (from 2017-2019), different stereo, etc.

What insurance company would do a frame swap on a 5 year old truck? The labor hours is incredibly high. My 2014 got hit two weeks after buying it and the rear frame was bent 3 inches. The truck was deemed a total loss by Allstate after the body shop gave a 27k price for repairs.
I couldn't imagine the amount of hours that would take. I surely wouldn't want a body shop doing the swap.....only a Ford dealer with a diesel tech onsite.

They told me they bring an independent vendor to do the frame swap.
I would not be worried about a frame replacement. Most diesel shops now lift the cab to do any engine work. The also take the bed off in some cases. The frames would be side by side and the swapping of items should be fairly straight forward.

We are not talking about cab and bed here, it's motor , trans, electrical system, fuel lines, front and rear ends, all suspension components.

And as I said, they lift the bodies/cab/bed now days to work on the engine and sometimes the transmission. That is pretty common now days to take them off.
I then said...
The chassis, old and new will be side by side and then the swapping from the old chassis to the new chassis can take place. It would be easier with the cab lifted and the bed removed.
Not sure what you didn't understand with my previous post.
