The 111 code did come up. So all good. I’ll go to the Ford dealer today to see if I can get the part. My dad didn’t drive the truck much since 2010. He lived in a cold climate where they sand the roads a lot. I got the truck with 53k on it. I’ve had to replace a few items on the truck and this part is not expensive so I’ll probably just replace it to make sure that is not the problem. I love the truck... put a 4” lift on it when I had to replace ball joints on the front. All new leaf springs with rough country white shocks and red boots. Totally has the old school rancho look. At least once a week someone offers to buy it. It has a 460 with OD transmission and I think it’s the 3.90 gears ... it was purchased to tow a fifth wheel when he retired. Unfortunately he didn’t tow much. I’ve been offered 22.5k for the truck. Anyways, thanks for all the help... this is an awesome forum.
Check the Axle Code on the sticker located on the driver side B-pillar. OBS trucks never came with 3.90 gears from the factory. Yours is 3.55 or 4.10 assuming it still has factory gearing.
So, after an internet search and a trip to the Ford dealer it appears that the MLPS has been discontinued. Does anyone know of a place with NOS of this item. NAPA can order a quality made in USA part.
if we cant get motorcraft, which one would be the next in line to get, or is it just a crap shoot after motorcraft, just definitely stay away from any with 'made in china'
The dealer no longer has these parts as they are discontinued from Ford. New old stock only and one of the parts in the pic is not it. There are a couple of sellers on line but some say contact for pricing. Has anyone one used a Ford NOS company that is reliable and is able to return part?
I’ll try adjusting first and cleaning around the components. I researched the company NAPA gets its parts from ...”Echlin”.... they are USA manufactured based out of Connecticut.....and can be returned .... let you know when I’m done with next step.
Sorry to send you down a bunny hole re: Ford Part Numbers no longer available. Seems like last year they were available, but not the case anymore. If I could not source a Ford/Motorcraft MLPS easily I would go for a Standard Motor Product (SMP) version NS94. NAPA Echlin brand would be another good choice.
Since I had to order the part I went with NAPA part. If I don’t open the plastic I can return it. That was the main reason. The part says it was made in Taiwan....Darn it!! It looks like the same part as sold on E-Bay. I’ll get to the truck this weekend and let you all know what happened. I plan on measuring the values of the new part vs the existing part. I would hope that the are all the same just the part is a little worn. Thanks again for all your help and suggestions!!!
