I need help!!
I have a 1996 f350 7.3l powerstroke with a e40d automatic 4x4 transmission. I bought this truck in September of 2019 the previous owner ran the transmission hot on temp gauge not sure how hot.. When I got the truck it ran fine, then all of a sudden I went out to warm up the truck as usual and about 15 mins later I went to leave as I put the truck in reverse it started to rough idle and then stalled out I restarted the truck and it was fine later that day after work the same thing happened. Shortly after I lost drive gear I can put truck in 2nd gear than shift into drive and it'll be fine but as soon as I stop I have to drop it back into 2nd. I changed out the neutral safety, the solenoid pack and new filter due to the filter not being plugged in when I dropped the pan. If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it

Did you check for codes?

I don't have a check engine light on so I did not check I was under the impression that you could only check for codes if there is a check engine light

is your third brake light working? when they short the can cause some funky issues

No it's not working. How would I go about fixing that problem?

Chances are the bulb needs replaced.

So by replacing the bulb it can help out the transmission?

It may, I was having weird things happen in reverse and it solved my problem. My bulb was out too

do not use an LED if you have an auto, that goes for any of ur brake lights
