Touchscreen Off Button

Looking to answer a probably odd "can this be done?" question.

Here's the situation:
* Just bought a 2019 Ranger XLT. Also my employer just bought a 2020 Transit Van.
* I really don't like/use touchscreens all that much.....I obviously understand that touchscreens are a part of modern cars and I just have to deal with it for the most part, but still.
* I can (and do) turn the touchscreen off in my Ranger most of the time. Doing so is a multi-action prospect....touch "General settings", swipe right to the next screen, touch "Display", touch "Display off". Rather annoying and in fact forces me to use the touchscreen in order to not use the touchscreen. I know I'm in the (very small) minority here, but I kinda hate this.
* I can also turn off the touchscreen in the Transit. Doing so is simple....just touch the button (a button!) near the bottom right of the screen....usually just once, at the most twice. Nice! (and just what I want).
* I do realize that the lower-model Ranger has a simpler (more old-school) interface with less reliance on the touchscreen (which I would have preferred), but there were other reasons I bought the XLT.
* I also realize that that "button" on the Transit is in fact a scroll-through button for the touchscreen that goes "HOME", "CALM", "OFF", "HOME",..............
* Lastly there are two buttons on my Ranger's steering wheel that make the touchscreen go to "HOME" and "GENERAL" respectively.

My question is......is there some way to reprogram that "HOME" button on my Ranger's steering wheel to work the way the HOME/CALM/OFF button works on the Transit? (ie: turn the screen of with one touch)
Either something that Ford could do (which I realize is unlikely), or that a third party (computer hacker type person?) could do?

But hey, thanks for the helpful advice.

You’re quite welcome.

With that being said, the answer to your original posting was summed up in the first word of my initial reply and that was followed up with a little sarcasm / humor to try to ease the obvious disappointment that you will have.

No need to get upset 😠 or angry 😤 because there’s no solution to what you’re seeking.

It is what it is.

Have a good weekend.

If you don't want to see the touch screen, you could cover it up with a cut-to-size piece of black or gray vinyl material (as an example), or some other cover material.
