About to complete the purchase of a '19 F150, with backup camera. I asked sales person about using it while towing a trailer, and was told no can do, "for safety reasons". Huh? RAM trucks allow you to turn the camera on while driving down the highway. There is an icon to do that on their 8.4 Uconnect screen.
Safety? That would be like saying don't look in your rear view mirror while driving, as that would be a distraction.
So, has anyone here knowledge of a way to change the system (Forscan, etc) to allow the rear camera to display on the monitor wile towing? I like to glance at the trailer from time to time, while im on the road.
The only way I know of is the purchase of a product like NavTV's F50 or F53. I'm waiting for them to confirm compatibility with a 2020 before I purchase. They're a bit pricey, but they offer camera memory, use of any camera while driving (single tap button for rear and double tap button for front), blinker camera functionality, etc. The F53 can add up to three additional cameras/inputs.
