The motor in my 1995 F150 is not the original motor. I'm not sure of what vehicle it came from, or what year. I plan on using the upper intake from this motor for my 351 build. The intake does not have the "5.0" printed on it like what is on my other 1995 F150. So my question is, Is this upper intake the same internally as what would normally be on a 1995 F150?
That is an early 5.0 intake.. later models had 5.0 EFI or 5.8 EFI on the top. The confounding thing about this is the 5.0 and 5.8 got different intakes so if you are junkyard shopping for parts you may as well get a complete 5.8 intake.
I've got the 5.8 intake from the engine I am building. But, I hoped to use the 5.8 lower and mod it to fit a 5.0 upper intake as some here have done. Is it worth the effort to do this? And should I get a "newer" 5.0 intake for this task, or just use the "old" on I have in the pictures?
OK, I'm not sure how the others addressed this but you may need a custom gasket between the upper/lower parts because there is a pretty bad mismatch in the shape of the ports at the front.
Scndsin, your thread on converting the 5.8 lower is one of the ones I have saved for this project. I'm going to give it a go...because the worst thing that can happen is a ruin an old lower intake.
