I have a 1995 F350 7.3 with a nasty fuel leak I found on a component screwed on to the lower rear fuel filter housing.
Looks like an oil pressure switch with a single terminal. Looking at Mitchell on demands wiring diagram and according to wiring color (red/white stipe) its called a fuel filter switch.
I am assuming when pressure builds up from a restricted filter switch closes and lights up an indicator in dash?
Planning on not replacing but rather pluging it with a 1/8 plug. Any knowledge to help me confirm what this component is and what might happen if I dont conect.
You are correct on the switch name, but it senses a restriction in the fuel flow, be it from a clogged filter or a plugged fuel line. It is not really needed, and if you use the pipe plug, do not over tighten it as you can split the port that it screws into, and a new fuel regulator is the only fix.
