Help Number Dummy!

Ive acquired a 1983 F250 6 cyl. 4 speed manual. VIN: 2FTHF25YCA58173
Vehicle has been painted and door tag is not there.
I need to buy an master cylinder and there are two options. (1) GVW under 8500 (2) GVW over 8500

Really need to decode this truck....

Sorry to say Bill has been MIA for at least a couple of weeks now. With luck he'll be back for business now in the new year, but we've been not-too-patiently waiting already!

So good luck to you, and to NumberDummy too!

If you have some free time, take a look around garys site. The drop downs up top have a ton of resources, lot of great info on this era of truck. Too bad about your door sticker, lot of good info on that like paint and color schemes inside and out.

What gives? Did not think EFI came out on the300 till after 86 for 87 model year? Is that how they marked the feed back systems = EFI?

Also does your truck have duel piston front brake calipers?
If so I want to say they were only on the 8500> trucks when I checked but could be wrong.

I believe the application chart showed 83 to be the start. I know it was a cross over year and some systems got some of the efi stuff even though that had carbs. I figure it was more TBI than tru efi. But may be wrong. I know the systems overlapped until 86, after that, no more carbs.

First I heard of over lap of carbs & EFI.
I know the 300 starting about 83 went with a feed back carb system.
A computer adjusts the fuel mixture but the system AFAIK still uses the low PSI fuel pump on the side of the motor where a TBI would be a high PSI pump either in tank or a booster on the frame rail like the late v8 EFI trucks did.

My truck has twin piston front calipers and a carburated fuel system with lots of tiny vaccum lines running everywhere. Hoping to find a carb from a 1970 F350 with a 6 cylinder and replace the spaghetti monster carb
Also going to change out the exhaust manifold with the twin separated manifolds off of a later 6 cyl. Cant remember what year those came on.....

Buy a Marty Report (https://www.martiauto.com/martireports.cfm), and reproduce your door tag (https://www.martiauto.com/tags.cfm).
Mine looks identical to the original, same font, etc.
