Here comes post #2... my son and I continue to make progress rebuilding a 1976 F100 302 v8. The trans is the stock C4 automatic 3 speed, but the previous owner converted to a floor shifter. The cables has snapped from the floor shifter which offered us the opportunity to convert it back to stock column shift. I have looked at a few posts about this and have run into a snag that I can’t seem to answer on my own. I think the answer is remove the trans arm and replace the rod, but I’m not sure so here goes:
the column rod does not reach the trans arm in its current state. The bend on the rod rubs the bolt at the bell housing. I am attempting to adjust the arm, but I’m not sure if it is as easy as unattaching the bolt on the center of the arm and pulling it off. Will this spew transmission fluid (which we just replaced along with the gasket and filter)? Thanks in advance!
