C4 trans
I hope this is the right place to post this question. Can anyone tell me how to repair a loose shifter arm on my c4? the po of the tranny in my trk had tack welded the shift arm on to the shifter rod and it has broken loose. it looks as if it was a pressed or swedged fit originally. can anyone help me out? thanks tony

that all depends on the shifter and what the arm looks like. Perhaps if you take a pic I can help. Other than that, get someone to weld it who knows what they are doing...
Also, check the geometry and that it shifts normally before you fully weld it.

The ones I am familiar with had a flat on the end of the shaft, and the arm was sheet metal. It was keyed on the outer half to match the flat, split to allow it to slide on, with a clamp bolt. So it only fit one way (because of the flat) and was clamped onto the shaft.

thanx guys, i.ll try and snag my kids camera and get some pics., sorry about not getting back sooner but i've been doing alot of cancer repair on my cab so i can mount it and get measurements on my stearing and get back to another member on parts. sorry tony
