I have a 1994 Ford F-250 with a aftermarket head unit while driving to work the other morning I hit a really bumpy road and the tool for the spare tire that sits right under the hood on the core support came loose and was laying on my positive battery terminal the truck died completely but started back up just fine after I removed that tool but my radio wasn’t working. I started driving a little more it I came back on and as soon as the bass hit it went dead again and did this a few more times before going out for good. I’ve tried the radio and it’s harness out of another truck of mine and still nothing. I’ve checked the fuses and nothing was blown. Has anybody had any similar problems? If so what fixed it? Is there anything else I can look for? I drive 45 minutes to work each day so it’s a long ride with no music
Damn, I'm sorry I have no lead for you. But I've been in the same situation, long drive and no tunes. If you can find an old battery radio to toss on the seat till you sort it out, that helps the drive. Had to do that myself when my CD player took a dive and I was too broke to get a new one.
Just put an in-line fuse in the feed to it and you should be fine. Kind of a mystery what burned out in the original. You could grab a multimeter and try to find where it is hot and where it is not.
