Radio Display Out

In the last month or so, I've done a bunch of work on my 1993 3.0 XL. Some of it required me to remove the interior engine access panel (or door or whatever it is called). I also had to disconnect the battery several times. I don't know if either of those actions had anything to do with it, but now the display on the radio doesn't light up. The radio works fine, you just can't see the display to know what time it is or see the radio station numbers. At first, it wouldn't work for a few minutes, then would just come back on. Now, it doesn't come on at all. It hasn't affected any other part of the radio (bass, treble, fade, balance). Any ideas on what it would be? If it were a fuse, wouldn't the whole thing quit? There are typically two power lines going to the radio, a constant, and one that comes on when the key is turned on. If one of those has an inline fuse it seems like the whole radio would not come on. Or at least, it wouldn't remember my presets (fortunately I reset them before the display went out for good).

After changing the battery in my 95, I've lost part of my display. Just enough to not be able to recognize what time or station is on it. The missing segments are random. Will unhooking and rehooking the + battery terminal help? Thanks,
Ross

That happens periodically on mine.....pull the radio take the front panel off and replace the mini bulb behind the display. A small pair of needle nose pliers (don't exert too much pressure) will do the trick.....
