man, sounds like you have some issues with your battery? even my old battery could hold up for 2 hours at full blast and i'm running comparable power as you are. now with my red top i've never run it dead. HOURS On end at full blast. Maybe get that checked out!
Those JL amps do thier job well but they eat some power. My system ate the factory battery in 3 months. Even now, the cheap Autozone replacement isn't starting as fast as it used to about 2 months ago. After new years (raise time) a better battery and larger alternator is going in.
I'm also toying with the idea of a NAPA 1800 amp battery in the bed with some 2 gauge wire up to the main battery.
For now, I've learned to just let it run for a while with the system off before shutting it down when getting home from work.
haha, thats insane man. My old Napa 75 battery ran for over a year just fine. It still runs fine now, but the reserve capacity just isnt' enough. I went out and bought an optima red top. and... Like i said, not a lick of trouble since. man... i'd be willing to bet you that the Napa Battery your looking at is nothing more than 3 batteries wired in a pack. Try a optima blue top, or yellow top instead? Blue tops are deep cycle i believe. And if that still isn't enough, wire two batteries together with an isolator. I think it still might be cheaper than your diesel battery, and i know what they are cuz i live around log trucks
I think interstate is also making a gell cell monster that discharges 1900 amps and has an unlimited recharge amperage rating, so if you can dump 200 amps from an alternator into it, it'll take it.
I've also looked into an underhood 5kW generator that when stepped down to 12V will put out 400 amps with a 8HP draw to run it.
I just helped do the final assembly on an 80's cutlass supreme with 8 - 6X9's (yes 8 of them, 4 in the back deck, 2 by the back seats and 2 in the front doors) plus 4 hidden tweeters in the dash all on a kicker 600.4, and 2 - 12"L7's on a kicker 1200.1, and the guy came back cause it wasn't loud enough because it didn't shake the ground when he stood outside his car.
So now he's getting 3 12L7's wired to 1 ohm each, and each sub will have its own 1200.1.
