That's a tough one, it varies, some areas have dealers willing to go well bellow invoice while others not. Personally I wouldn't go to any dealer that wont at least sell at invoice plus rebates. What state are you in?

You have to look at the complete deal. Is there a trade? What are dealer fees? If there’s a trade will dealer stick to trade price months after order when your new truck arrives?

When I ordered my 2019 F-350 Lariat Ultimate diesel almost 1-1/2 years ago (7/5/2018) I ordered it with X-plan. The X-plan price was within $5 of invoice and limited dealer fees to $100. Then I had $3,750 that included rebates, incentives and a $3,000 that came off the final price.

The other thing I had was I was trading in a 2017 F-350 Lariat Value pkg. The dealer locked in trade in value when I placed the order. They gave me $54,202 on trade on a truck I purchased for $61,000 2 years earlier. So I ate $7k in depreciation over 2 years of ownership or about $300/month of ownership.

There were other dealers that possibly would have gone $1,000 or so below invoice but they offered $4-5k less on the trade in value. CarMax even offered me $5,000 less than the dealership. When all fees and trade in value was factored in the local dealer had the best deal.

Right now I recommend that you order a new 2020 exactly equipped the way you want. That way you’re not paying for options you don’t want and you get every option you want. I wanted a heavily equipped Lariat ultimate w/18” tires, adaptive cruise, BLIS, power running boards, LED headlamps, Tow tech pkg, 5th wheel prep, universal garage opener etc. I absolutely did not want 20” tires, Chrome pkg, or moon/sunroof. I also transferred my bug deflector, BedRug, all weather mats and BakFlip F1 bed cover to my new truck.

Here’s a screenshot of the order page. After this I also had an additional $250 USAA bonus cash they applied.

MSRP was &74,015. X-plan $69,628 before $3,750 in rebates and PCO.

Do you have a trade? If not, the dealer offering the largest dealer discount will be what you want, all else being equal.

I haven't shopped 20s, not in the market, but I was in 2019. I dont think it's the same, since the 19 wasnt a refreshed model year. I'm also not in your region. Beginning of the year on a 19 the best quote I got on an order was $1500 under invoice, another dealer was $800 under. I ended up with an in stock truck. It had every option I wanted plus a couple I wouldn't have chose if I had ordered. They weren't options I didn't want, just wouldn't have included them, if I had ordered. The price made up for those additional options at $2500 under invoice.

What I did was ask the dealer discount on multiple trucks and narrowed down which dealer to use.

Straight up told the guy I wont waste your time give me the best dealer discount. I think it was around $6500, then incentives.

Different route

So I think I’m going a different route. I found a used 2019 F350 CCSB 6.7 XLT 4x4 with these options:

5th wheel prep kit
spray in bedliner
keyless entry
power mirrors
running boards
20” rims that I want to replace with 18”

it does not have the FX4 package but a skid plate and hill descent can be added later if I’m not mistaken?

my main goal is to pull our TT and the our new 5th wheel. The price is great which is why I’m considering.

thoughts?

thanks for your input

This should be a good choice for towing a typical 5th wheel. Look at the yellow tire and loading sticker for payload. I would expect it to be at least 3,500 lbs.

Hill decent can be added via FORScan and an inexpensive switch. if you plan on going off-road you can easily bolt on a skid plate. There are lots of them out there from people who remove it to install a Titan fuel tank.

Brandon Ford has several with about $10,000 off sticker.

its basically an XL - payload 3680. Doesn’t have some of the luxury items but it’s got what we need tow a good size 5th wheel and the price is right.

thank you for continuing to read this and help me out. I found what I think is it an even better deal on a truck that isn’t as far away. It was brought down from Canada but I still think It’s OK? Here are the specs

2017 F-350 XLT CCSB 6.7 4x4
miles 26900
5th wheel orep
3.55 Elec locking
ultimate TT
power sliding rear window
les box lighting
dual extra heavy alt
blis
Power scope trailer tow mirrors
11500 gvwr
snow plow prep
etc
And the price is right. I’m going to look at it tomorrow

Take a very close look at everything under it, it might have been painted over though. Some of the Canadian trucks, just like some of our east coast vehicles, can see extreme winters and salt. They also pay less when new up there for some reason, and I'm sure the dealers get them extra cheap when buying them for resale here. The price should reflect that.

What dealership is it at? When I was shopping for my truck a couple years ago I spoke with a dealer in WI that routinely got Super Duties from Canada. I was on my way up there to look at a slightly used one and the salesman informed me that it had sold. I can't remember what town it was in....
