Used or rebuilt?

Hey there just wondering if anyone could help me out. I'm looking for a good transmission shop for my 1994 F-250 idi. I'm in Canada Vancouver (surrey) I either need to get a used one and then mine rebuilt. Or just get mine rebuilt and then put back in. Any suggestions are more then welcome. Its been parked for almost 2 weeks now.
Thanks in advance

Get yours rebuilt by a reputable builder and make sure the build includes all the updates.

A salvage yard transmission may not run. Then you'd have the expense of the salvage transmission plus a rebuild.

DOH! Right you are.

Here's a good thread on rebuilding the E4OD. Definitely not cheap.

good link confirms what has been posted

Personally I would rebuild it myself, BUT this is not for everyone, BUT sometimes you gotta start somewhere.

I've built a few of em along with many other Trannies over the years.. and as a Rule I don't suggest getting a Kit until you have it torn down and have figured out what all you need for it as all kits are not created equal.. I posted a place to get Quality Master kits in one of his other Threads BUT I cannot just Jump in and say "You Need this one" as I have not inspected the Transmission.

BTW you can do a few "Air Checks" before you completely tear into it to get an Idea of what is going on too.

Air Checks .... Grab a copy of the ATSG Air Check Manual https://pdfslide.net/documents/air-c...from-atsg.html

$2500 is reasonable for a Quality rebuild including new Torque Converter and all Upgrades.
