My 4R70W was $2400 and change for a stock rebuild, converter and a new u joint, no new hard parts. Shame i couldnt talk them into doing the jmod but they insisted it wouldnt be warrantied. Balljoints for free? That is exceedingly generous usually its around $600 for balljoints parts and labor. The increase in price is likely caused from having to replace a hard part which they cant possibly know about until they have it apart, one of the joys of a slushbox.

Ok ya makes more sense now. I supplied the ball joints which are not getting done now. My buddy gave me somethat he had at his shop. But they are the wrong size. I gues there are 3800lb axle and 4600lb or something like that? I had the 3800lb. and he called me back saying I need a new pump and a new chiller. It was to clgged with metal shavings that thery are not able to flush the syatem. So that explains it.

Replacing the Transmission cooler requires disassembly of the Radiator ... so one cleans the Radiator at that time too ... generally the Radiator is sent to a Specialty Shop for this work. unless the shop doing your transmission also does Radiator repair.

What I'm saying is that the Transmission cooler is inside the bottom Tank of the Radiator, and IF like you said you need a new "Chiller" because yours is Clogged with metal and they said cannot be cleaned so must be Replaced.......

So here is a Radiator Tank with the Transmission Cooler in it similar to our Trucks.

SO how did they change it without servicing the Radiator ????
so what did they do Bypass it and just add an Aux Cooler, you can tell if the Transmission lines No Longer go into the bottom of the Radiator, and a Small Aux cooler is not going to be enough. ... I know because My in Radiator Cooler is bypassed right now and I have a Large B&M Aux cooler and my Tranny runs HOT. I have to keep a real close eye on it right now until I get my Radiator Repaired or Replaced.

You're Quite Welcome ......

It's just never my place to determine that some shop that I have never dealt with is less than Honest... BUT it is my Place to try help and Educate folks to make informed decisions ... I don't make Judgements, I try to deal with Facts and let the Folks I try to help make their own Judgements.

I work on my own stuff because I cannot afford to Pay a Shop to do it for me... Retired Fixed income Cheap Bastid here

so they still had lines running into the bottom of my rad then out into a separate chiller. So you were right i just didnt see it until doi g some work yesterday.so i went 200km then it happened again no gears.im goi g to change to proper chiller and the same time put new rad in. Or do I need to do that? Also I fou d 2 different sizes for rad chiller combo 1 of them is quite a bit bigger then the other. I would just go messure mine. But my truck is bmnot moving at the yard where I drive truck. Could you tell me the size I'll need.
