The truck is having idle issues and stalling issues. I used an INNOVA 3145 to retrieve the codes. The codes were as follows:
KOEO: 111 (system pass), 122(c) (TPS below minimum voltage), 212(c) (Loss of ignition diagnostic monitor signal SPOUT circuit grounded)
KOER: 538(r) (Trucks ONLY) : invalid cylinder balance test due to throttle movement during test.
Even though the truck is a 8 cylinder, the reader during the running test indicated it was a 6 cylinder. So, I reran the test, and it identified it as a 4 cylinder. Is this normal? Also, I wasn't even in the truck during the KOER test, so I did not even touch the throttle. Could this be due to a faulty TPS? Also, I did pull the SPOUT and reset the timing a month ago, would this cause code 212? I would really appreciate any input regarding the codes and ways to resolve this issue.
I would check the TPS with a voltmeter. Check for proper 5v reference and a good sensor ground as well as checking the signal wire. Since the TPS didn't show up in the active faults, only the memory, it could be an intermittent problem that may be related to low idle and stalling. 538 means you didn't stab the throttle when prompted during the KOER test which makes sense if you weren't in the driver's seat for the test. It is not possible to do a cylinder balance test unless your truck is MAF with sequential injection. I'm not sure why the cylinder count is wrong. You could try running the test manually without the code reader and see what comes up. EEC IV Self Test hookup
TPS test, if you have a analog meter to use you could watch for dead spots that would show up on the analog meter better than the digital meter, the wiper arm rides on the potentiometer through the same spots for years(idle to cruise speed) every time you stop, and will wear those spots quicker, e.g. stumble at part throttle but fine at medium to WOT, still could be other issues helping cause stumbling.
