I've had very good luck with this, usually removes the plugs intact. Last one I did, I only had one broken one (I also have the Lisle tool for removal).
If you read through the various threads about removal, you'll find a number of different options and opinions.
Last one I did was on an Explorer - since I had the room, I decided to take a chance on one of the more aggressive methods...
Install OTC tool to cinch things together
Install sleeve over tool
Attach impact wrench to sleeve (sleeve is 1/2 in drive)
Short burst on impact
Pulled all 8 with no issues, no broken plugs - in about 15 minutes. Was a bit hesitant to use an impact, but dang it, it worked!
I'm gonna have to try it with out that for now. Again didnt know they made such a thing. Thanks for the info.
When I had a truck with the Triton motor I was so scared that the plugs might break that I bought the Lisle tool before I even attempted a spark plug change (at less than 50k miles), it turns out that if you buy the tool first, you actually don't need it........
After I sold the truck I also sold the tool.
You should replace the original 2 piece plugs with quality 1 piece plugs & at least remove, clean & refit every 20k or so. This helps prevent carbon build up on the portion in the combustion chamber.
Spoiler
you are absolutely right. Had I bought the tool first non of them would have broke. I got the tool removed the one that broke and the last 7 came out with there hands up. Thank you all so much. Your knowledge saved my *** a whole bunch again. Here's the ones that surrendered with out a fight.

I have a selection of tools that I've bought as "insurance", glad the rest came out okay for you.
Manufacturers just make things easy to build & generally harder to maintain.
