Reman engine options
I have a 2003 f150 Fx4 5.4 v8. It has 213k and the head gasket has blown. I am considering a reman engine instead of fixing the existing one. I can get a reman ford crate engine for around the same price as jasper, or napa auto parts and have my local mechanic install it. Is the Ford crate engine the best option? I have not heard much about a ford reman, but I have heard jasper and napa are hit or miss. Whatever engine I go with I plan on driving it another 200k. Is their another engine that is better?

You could probably, get another 200k if you install quality head gaskets, rebuild heads, and new timing set, well as long as the cylinders are not scored amd cross hatches are visible.
If your set on a reman, with no doubt i would go with a Ford reman, I've used Surefire engines from Autozone and have been great with 3 year 100k mile warranty no questions ask.
