Anyone add a 12V outlet on the upfitter housing? Pics if you have would be awesome!!
I have a new 7" TOGUARD Backup Camera and Dash Cam that covers the rear view mirror that I plan to use for aligning the gooseneck trailer and want to route the power cable (12VDC jack) to the upfitter area not down to the existing 12V outlet.
Plugged everything in today to check for proper operation and both cameras are pretty darn impressive, screen resolution is amazing; now just need to get the installation to be less obvious/intrusive.
Why not just wire it to switchable hot wire behind the upfitter panel area?
The 12 Volt plug is a power adapter which I guess provides different voltage to the cameras and screen (5VDC or ???) would have to read the small print to know for sure.
I’ve been looking for the same thing, a USB port in the upfitter area would be great for a dash cam.!
USB would work for my Garmin but not the Dashcam as it has a 12v connection/power adapter; but I agree and plan to install a USB or 2 in the center dash "tray area" to move all the wires into that space.
Just so your aware the wires going to the switches are not a high load wire. Those wires only control a relay. Not saying it wouldn't work but be cautious.

AND THAT^^ is what we call the reason this place is SO AWESOME!!!
Never thought about the actual operation of the upfitter and only made the connection between switches and available power; not relay control of power... DUH should have!! The 12V "Power" is supplied by the relay to the wire that feeds through the firewall at the passenger feet so guess a rethink is in order.
