nv271 transfer case in 88 e250

I'm converting a 1988 e250 to 4wd. It has a 4wd c6 and 2007 f350 axles. I'm deciding between the bw1356 and nv271 transfer cases. The 1356 should go right in and the vss and speedometer cable plug into it. The nv271 will bolt in, but I can't install the speedometer cable and vss to it. The rear axle has a vss sensor, not sure if I attached the wires it would work correctly, and I could use a gps speedometer. What does the vss do for this van since it's a c6 and cable driven speedometer? Could I use a speedometer from a later van that's sensor driven? Seeing if anybody has input on this.

The NV wasn't that great of a transfer case and parts availability isn't great especially from a defunct company. The BW unit has a ton of easy to get parts and support. Both are nearly the same in terms of strength.
