just bought an 88 bronco with a 302. speedometer doesnt seem to work, and im pulling a no speed input code from the computer. I found where the cable connects to the transfer case, pulled it out for a look, and everything seemed fine, but i dont know what to look for. what could be causing this problem? also, would this keep the 4wd from engaging (neither 4h or 4l engage) other than that it is an awesome truck. Thank you very much for your replies.
is the cable connected to the back of the speedometer? you know with that not hooked up is a great way to show less miles then what is actually on there.
thanks for your quick reply! i drove with the cable disconnected from the speedometer and looked at the cable, and the inner part wasnt turning when i was driving, ive got an automatic transfer case. the sensor is right where is connects at the t-case. so could it be something internal?
just got another chance to look at it today. i pulled it out, when i spun the gear it didnt move the speedo. so i took the sensor off the cable, reseated it, and it worked, so i put it back in the t-case. started driving, the speedo moved a little bit then ceased. when i pulled the sensor out again and spun the gear, the speedo moved. any ideas? and thank you very much for the input so far.
The card under the kick panel on the passengers side could be the problem there. Try checking it out ... someone else mentioned a way to test it a week or so ago on another thread.
