I agree about the clunky transmission. Sounds like the same shifting issue with my 2019 I bought in September.

I drive rush hour traffic every day. Shifting 3rd to 4th gear in stop and go traffic clunks. Meaning, accelerate to 30 mph, coasting down to 20 mph, accelerating the transmission slams into gear!

Also, accelerating while at highway speeds the transmission clunks into gear. Such as merging onto the highway.

I agree my 2013 F150 six speed transmission was clunky, which never got resolved. Now my 2019 F150 10 speed transmission shifts the same. During my ‘free’ oil change the dealer applied a transmission software update to my 2019... no change. At least Ford is aware of the issue.

Adios.

The best I have found is to use Forscan, go to service functions and select " clear transmission adaptive learning tables" and clear adaptive learning. Instant smooth shifting, however I have had to reset it multiple times because it just goes back to bad habits.

I have 3000 miles on my 2019 2.7 10 speed and it's the smoothest shifting vehicle I've ever driven and I've driven lots of FCA stuff from Jeeps to Rams with the ZF8HP. I wonder why some are smooth and some not with our 10 speeds?

Smoothness probably depends on build date. When I had my F250, with the new Torqueshift, the advice I got was to take it to the dealer and tell the service writer that you have a “driveabilty issue”. You have to use those words, as it means something to Ford. They reflashed the truck with a different tune than the trucks are shipped with, it made a big difference. I wonder of that advice would apply today.
