Always starts right off when cold (even 20 degrees). But after driving and when the engine is fully warmed to operating temp, when shut off briefly, it doesn't want to start. Starter does its job but when the engine fires it behaves like there is no fuel. Runs poorly for a few seconds then dies. Try two or three times more and it fires right up. Basically, can't shut it off unless I intend to let it sit for awhile. A couple of hours for sure. Its winter now so thats better but when summer comes, I could be sitting for an extended time. FICM shows it is working within prescribed limits when running. Running a Scan II gauge that show no codes. Everything that it does show, seems normal. Thoughts and thanks. Merry Christmas too.
How about posting some cranking data when it won't start:
FICM sync
cranking rpm
ICP pressure
ICP volts
IPR % duty cycle
FICM MPower, LPower, and VPower
Injector Pulse Width
Bismic asked for some readings from a good scan tool, hard to give advice without data. These issues can be a number of things and hard to pinpoint without readings.
As stated the ScanII never shows anything. Understand that it is not the best but bought it for its other features. I have a different scan device but it is the kind that only ready with the key on, not with the engine running. It too shows nothing using it as intended. I guess I need to take it to a repair facility with the right diagnostic equipment to get a good read.

Thanks SmackDaddy. Folks need to understand that internet troubleshooting needs data. All too common to request specific parameter data, only to get general responses in return .... That combination doesn't work very often! Folks here are VERY happy to help, but not many want to just guess at an answer.
OP - The scangaugeII is very capable of retrieving the requested data.
Post the data and you will get help (and save money). If you aren't familiar w/ the acronyms or how to retrieve the requested data from the Scangauge, just ask.
Edit -
Start reading up on pressure testing the high pressure oil system.
You don’t need no stinkin data, You just need deep pockets to fund the guesses.
The routine .....
Have you changed all the fuel filters?
Have you done an oil change?
Did you check the in-tank fuel pump?
What about the air filter?
Its the muffler bearing.
Its a modern, complex, computer controlled engine, interconnected with all the sensor and controls. Sometimes it’s hard enough with the best of equipment, with well trained people (becoming a rarity), but without ........
