It will probably be standard by the time I upgrade vehicles in a decade or so.
Good answer. I've driven adaptive steering in other vehicles and personally not a fan. Doesn't matter if you paid $50k or $100k to get into your truck if it does what you need it to do that's all that matters.

I was mainly looking for the steering box ratio. For instance if the box is 20:1, that’s on the slow side. I can see where adaptive would help a lot. But if the steering box is say 16:1. That’s fairly quick, wouldn’t need adaptive as much.

Can you guys actually tell it has it? To me its been seamless. I dont even notice it and do not remember having to get use to it.

At first I wondered how it would work since i came out of an F250 without it.

That's pretty much my thought...if I can't tell the difference (without counting wheel rotations) then do I want to spend $1000 to get it?

Some of these arguments are absurd. It's an option. Take it or leave it. Nobody gets a vote. No tally is being taken. Protests over Russian interference will go nowhere. And here's the part that will make you race for a safe space: Content is continually being added to vehicles. Yes, it does make them more expensive, but you'll pay. They already know that. A little at a time and you'll be fine. As someone noted; in coming years, this adaptive steering will become a packaged feature, then as added standard content.

I came out of a 2011 F-150, which handled kind of like a big car, but the steering was truck slow in parking lots and such. My F-250 with adaptive steering drives more like a truck, but in parking lots, it's more like a car. Everyone has an opinion on every option or feature. That opinion -just like mine- means nothing.

If you don't want adaptive steering, here's the solution: DON'T ORDER IT. See how easy that was?

I have a different perspective than most since I am really a newbie. I've never owned or really driven any truck newer than 2008 or so. (hey, college was expensive!) I have test driven a few 19's and to me the trucks with regular steering drove like a brick compared to my 20 year old Excursion. The trucks with adaptive steering felt significantly better. To me. Obviously we each have our opinions so everybody should trust their own and buy what feels best. Drive both versions back to back and if you can't tell the difference, you just saved $1000.

Steering

I like adaptive steering and the dash display showing degrees of turn.

For the low tech, I would also like a steering ****. Would like an optional rear bathroom for long trips. 😊

Yeah I would consider saving the $1000 if it was like a work truck but on the upper level trucks it does lend to the comfort factor.

As far as everyone saying “more things to break”, I haven’t heard of that yet and some of these trucks are getting high miles at this point.
