Ok guys im having some issues with my truck shifting, 2000 F350 7.3l no mods done
2 days ago i got my truck stuck in some deep snow spent about 45 mins rocking it back and forth trying to get unstuck with no luck. I finally gave up and called a tow truck to get me out.
welp after the tow truck got me out i went to put the truck into drive and had no forward power. Decided to have it towed back to the house instead of trying to drive home, i was thinking i just over heated the trans. Got up the next morning to leave for work put the truck into drive and she moved forward at and idle so i figured all was good, welp after about 15 minutes of driving i came to a stop light when i went to take off once again no power. was able to manually shift her into first gear and get going and the into second but once i went into drive engine just revved up and would not move. i started to think the issue was with the fluid truck has 300k and i dont know what all was done to her as far as upkeep on the trans , So this morning i went out did the trans filter and gasket and put fresh fluid into her along with a bottle of Lucas stop slip, well after warming up she did the exact same thing no change at all still have no power in drive or when i turn overdrive off. im at a loss of where to go from here, any information would be amazing as what to do next. im going to barrow a scanner tomorrow from a friend at work and will update with the codes i find
I guess I don't know what you would expect. Most automatics wouldn't put up with 20 minutes of that abuse (and the owner's manual says something along the lines of excessive "rocking" too).

ive done alot worse with trucks and didnt have an issue thats why i was confused on whats going on. im just trying to narrow down what went wrong to figure out which was to go on the rebuild

WOW! 45 minutes! That's a pretty severe test for a brand new transmission.

That is a very strong sign that the transmission is wiped out. It's destroyed.

Overheating won't prevent it from moving.

Fluid can't cause this unless there is no fluid.

As you found out that was a waste of money. Old fluid can't cause no gears, other than to wear out the trans and cause mechanical parts to fail.

Get another transmission. This one is probably going to need a lot of the hard parts replaced, not just the usual rebuild parts. 45 minutes of rocking will destroy just about everything inside the transmission.

It may have codes, it may not. None of them will be helpful. This transmission is finished. It's junk.
