My 2016 f250 4x4 6.2 with 72,000 mile just started having an issue with shifting the transmission. Backing out of the garage in the mornings from reverse to drive and in drive the transmission automatically goes into 5th gear and will not move until i go to reverse again. As soon as drive it goes back to 5th.
If i shut the truck off and restart it will work fine. So its been doing this about once aweek.
Brought it to the dealer and they couldnt find anything wrong after keeping it a couple of days to drive it..no charge though.
I tow daily with the truck and change the trans fluid a couple times a year with one being with a filter.
To me it seems electrical.
When it gets all funky the trans wont do anything other than reverse...so manual does nothing or tow haul mode does nothing...it stays in 5th or reverse works.
OCD I guess because I tow five days a week all year long. But it's only what's in the pan... 8 qts.
I know a good transmission guy. I figured I would let the dealer try in case of a TSB.
But reading thru other threads I'm thinking the issue is the shift selenoids. Seems to be a common problem.
