Upgrade- Grill, Bumper, Headlight

Hello gentleman & ladies;
I am on the dawn of getting my third Excursion. The first two have been MY 2001 with a 7.3 diesel. Some of you might have seen my last thread where the insurance company totaled my beloved truck after a rear right tire blowout. I have since found a 2001 with the same 7.3 in Estate Green, (I believe that's the correct color name), with 166,000 miles. It's real clean and the best one I could find within a reasonable price (<$16k). I'm first curious to know what everyone's opinion is of the pricing. I had it inspected by a Ford dealer, and they gave it a good bill of health. Everything works, no accidents, no bodywork, and a very clean interior. I will be going to pick it up in a few days and will post pictures then.

It will need new headlights, and grill since the existing grill has a few broken pieces and the lights are simply garbage from the factory. I'm seriously considering the same upgrade I did to my last Excursion with a 2005 bumper, grill, headlights, and header panel.

I know this subject has been covered many times but I cannot find a complete parts list with OEM part numbers. There are vendors who provide a complete kit for upwards of $1,500.00 but my fear is they use lesser quality than OEM, and I'm sure I can shop, and get that price down quite a bit if I only had the correct OEM part numbers. Does anyone have a complete parts list with the OEM part numbers?

Part of my decision is selecting between these three grills. The Super Duty "new style modified" to fit the 2001 bumper in the first picture, the "new style with 2005 bumper" in the second, or the "old style" keeping the 2001 bumper. The 2005 is the most costly, where the first and third would be drop in replacements. The last picture is the new Excursion coming next week if all goes well, which I'm banking on. As you can see, I need to replace the grill and headlights. What do you guys think?

I purchased my X with the 2005 grill installed, same as your first pic, but it continued to suffer from stone chips, I replaced it with the 99-04 F-250 truck version same as your second pic. A step backwards as many would point out, I like it much better, and a little less susceptible to stone damage . I also maintained the 2001 bumper as I had recently replaced it, but I added the 05-07 headlight support and 05-07 headlights with HID conversion. I was able to do all of that by simply modifying the bottom of the headlight support. I definitely like my choice, I guess you would have to envision each grill on your new X and see which one works best.

I like what you did to yours with the projector headlights. Who did the modification and was it expensive?

I purchased the OE headlights from my dealer, sent them to LightWerkz Global, then finished all the installation when they returned here. I haven't mentioned anywhere, but I still have to fully address an aiming issue, and a wobble when going over bumps. Not happy about either, I shimmed the bottom of both housings, therefore increasing the gap slightly between the poly-carbonate lens and fender and raising the beam, as I was out of adjustment screw. Doesn't make sense since the truck is much higher over stock and I needed to raise the beam to see down the road. I'm really satisfied with the light temperature and projection otherwise. Since shimming the housings out on the bottom this allowed me to take back some adjustment screw, and hopefully make the projectors more stable within the housing. I have yet to to see, I drive this X once in a while, and I'm never out at night.

I'm not seeing an 05 bumper in that second picture...looks like a 99-04 all chrome bumper to me. I've always liked the 05-07 bumper with the all chrome 99-04 bumper. I recently replaced the bumper on my 00 F350 and the 99-04 bumpers are getting tough to find. One reason I don't care for the 05-07 bumpers is the paint will always get chipped up from road debris. I still have both original bumpers in good shape from my F350 and the wife's Excursion.

I bought one of those kits to update to the 05-07 front end. The parts do seem cheap and I wish I would've searched for factory parts. I'm getting close to putting it all on. I have the grill and headlights on. I need to adjust the header panel and front fenders, then put the bumper on and check the fit. Hopefully I get to work on it around Christmas.

Will a 05-07 Ranch Hand style bumper bolt up with no issues with the OEM 05-07 grill and header panel? Also, did you guys use the radiator support L/R air deflectors from the 99-04 or the 05-07? Mine are pretty roached but they are discontinued. The 05-07 deflectors can be ordered. The radiator support is the same part number so I assume the new deflectors will work but I am not sure how many changes were made to the A/C condenser pipe positions. The deflector goes around those condenser pipes.

I don't see a reason why this will not fit. The bumper will mount to the frame horns. You may just have to adjust the height a bit here n there.

That is what I was thinking. If the factory 05-07 bumper fits then this one will fit as well.

Yes it will. With a little trimming and re-drilling of the brackets any Ranch Hand style rear bumper up to 2016 will fit also.
