2018 6.7 knocking??

2018 f350 6.7 started knocking in Saint Louis MO. Drove it apprx 390 miles (expecting to be towed before I made it home) sounds like a rod knocking but i don't believe it would have made it 390 miles without throwing the rod. Its had regular oil changes every 5-6000 miles. He uses Lucas diesel injector cleaner in it from time to time. Had to replace battery the day before and cleans his k&n filter all the time. It has apprx 165k on it & is no where near paid for. I need help!!!!

A defective injector can make a knocking noise. Get it looked at by a trained tech.

Yes, I too would perform a fuel injector test as a first step.

Ford doesn't recommend using ANY additives in the 6.7. If you do use anything i recommend cetaine I believe the part number is M22 I believe but don't quote me on that. I only use Motorcraft cetane A 18 shouldn't be having a injector problem My 15 has zero issues. Stop using the K& N air filter. Over oiling will cause issues with the MAS. I think a K&N is ok in gas cars but not so much for the diesel. Air into the motor is limited by the turbo. The turbo can only move so much air. To much air will effect the efficiency of the turbo.

Yeah that's a boat load of miles, so fuel has probably been from a lot of different places, and your injectors are most likely the source of the knock. Take it to a reputable shop and have it looked at, or a dealer would be fine too
