Holley 94 Question

My ’53 F-100 with a 239 flathead V8 came with an EBU carburetor, originally installed on ’54 automatic cars. I am replacing it with an EAC carb, which should be what the truck was built with. The choke housings on these two carbs appear identical except for one feature. They both have a cavity that houses the top of the accelerator pump and it’s linkage. The later model EBU has a quarter inch hole venting this cavity to the atmosphere while the EAC does not. What is the purpose of this hole? Is it to vent the accelerator pump top end for smoother action? If so, should I add a vent hole to the EAC housing?

My 2c, fwiw, they were designed to work the way they were made. I wouldn't mess with it unless you've found some tech update sheet or have some other documentation that recommends a modification.

I wouldn't drill it. They work fine without it. Does the EAC carb also have a felt seal on the accelerator pump shaft, near where it comes out of the bowl casting?

Thanks guys. Still wondering why the change was made, but that is good advice to leave it the way it was designed.
