Have a 2006 F350 6.0L and am adding a rear view camera and need a tip. Going to connect hot wire to a fuse in the cabin fuse box. Want the camera and monitor to come on ONLY when the truck has the ignition switch on. In other words which fuse is switch that would be a good choice? I am thinking 27 or 13? Help please... will be hooking things up after lunch.
24 folks have looked at my request for help. Never mind, will just try fuse locations as I need the info at this point in the install.
This forum is not as busy as it used to be, and most of the really knowledgeable diesel guys are hanging out on diesel-specific forums, or the flat-brimmers might only be on Instagram or whatever the next craze is....
That said, you might consider posting your results to help the next guy...and I wouldn't expect a response within a number of hours here, in the future (not a criticism -- and back in the early 2000's you woulda had 7 tech-heavy responses to your inquiry, but the times are a changin')

I have been a member for quite awhile but not a big contributor. I used 15A fuse 27 which is switched; that is, power goes through the fuse when the ignition switch is on. I shoved a bare hot wire into #27 slot with the fuse and it works fine but ordered a 10A Mini Fuse Tap Add-A-Circuit where I can put the 15A fuse AND an additional 10A fuse into the slot and connect properly. They should give you one of these on any backup camera install kit. BTW: Wasn't carping about the lack of an answer, I can read the fuse allocations in my owner's manual but was just looking for quick confirmation. I am sure others have installed stuff that needed to tap into switched power. Thanks wg

Just because 24 people looked at your post doesn’t mean they all had your answer and simply ignored your request for help!. Your title simply says WHAT FUSE? Members have to open the thread to see, year, engine and fuse for what…THEN determine IF they have the answer for you.
You posted at 11:09AM, most of us actually work during the day …??? Keep in mind the Members you asked for help are here because they want to be here and to help people if they can, they’re not being paid to be at anyone’s beck and call. They have families, work, kids plus it’s the holiday season and I have a lot going on...just like you. You apparently waited to the last minute to get this information, that old adage of: your failure to plan ahead does not constitute an emergency on our part kind of rings true here.
Now, regarding your question simply go into the operators manual, and look for any fuse that deals with the ignition those fuses will be hot when the vehicle is running and or off when the vehicle is off. You can buy add a fuse pigtails which basically allow you to keep your main fuse For the vehicle and then add an accessory that is also fused right at the fuse box. I’ll add the link below.
I wired mine to the ignition but then added a switch so I can turn it off as needed. The monitor can be bright in a dark car at night especially if the camera is on and you’re not pulling a trailer and somebody comes up behind you with the lights on. Just something to consider....

Thanks for the scolding. I will try and be a good boy... I understand work as I have a full time business and took a day off for a project. Just looking for some quick tips from someone who had done the job.
