Is there any potential harm in installing longer wiper blades on a 65 F250 4WD? For example, to the wiper motor or any of the mechanicals?
It appears that the worse that could happen is the longer blade will lose contact with the glass at the bottom of the arc (and when the wipers are parked) on the passenger side.
OEM wiper blade length is 12-7/8". Most replacements (and what was on there) recommended are 13". It looks like it could handle a 15" (or maybe longer) blade. I'd love to have the larger swept area.
Truck is an amalgam of parts from different years. I'm not doing a restoration (seriously, the driver's door is a custom cab door, and the passenger door is a standard cab door), so I'm not concerned about having it factory-correct. Thank you in advance.
Not a restoration.
If you must know, I was sitting on the cowl going over the carb and I sat on the wiper blade and broke it where it attaches to the wiper arm (the blade, not the arm). I put the blade back on, and it's okay until I turn the wipers on, then it just flops over.
That's a nice looking truck. There was a new member here recently who showed us his truck for 18" wiper blades. All he did was cut down the length of the arm and re rivet the blade attachment to the newly cut arm. Clip on a set of 18" blades and wait for the rain to come. Sorry I cannot remember the users name.

Thank you for the input. I'm gonna give 15" a shot. Not keen on having to do any fab work. I'll post a pic tonight.
I run a 15 on the driver's side and a 13 on the passenger side. If you use a 15 on the passenger side, the end floats in space a bit where the glass is curved, but I don't see how it could do any damage.

That sounds even better! I can even see in my own pic (above) how the end of the 13" blade just barely makes contact on the passenger side. Thank you.
I'm running 15" blades, as stated above the pass side is off the glass near the top of the blade when parked at the bottom of the sweep. Hope that make sense...Pat
So, I'm gonna go with 15" on driver's side and 13" on pass. side. Trico 33-150 and 33-130. Had to order the 13" blade as it was not in stock. Will update with pics when I get them installed.
I have 15" on the driver side and 13" on the passenger side. There was no rain, but the dust provided a decent substitute. It's not annoyingly lopsided, so I think I'll go with it.
