Of course, MAW have another tool in your toolbox! Even if you are only going to use it a handful of times in your life.

I broke down and rented a u joint press from the auto parts store this week to do the u joints on my classic Oldsmobile. I didn't want to take the chance of damaging the drive shaft by using a hammer and sockets. I could have bought one from HF for $90, but gotta keep momma happy...

They're handy for anything but big diesel engines when it comes to rotating an engine slowly when easing in main brgs., moving the crank to bolt up rods, using Plastigage, etc. Easier and handier than a breaker bar on the front crankshaft bolt. I've got some little goodies that fit in crankshaft oil holes, then when the crank is turned with the flywheel rotater, the goody in the oil hole contacts the upper main bearing shell and rolls it right out.

I have a "modified" screw driver for the same purpose, does make life easier. Technically speaking, you really shouldnt turn an engine over by the balancer bolt, i stripped one out of a 390 i was trying to turn over once.
