you need the smog pump to pump air into the exhaust before the cats so they can actually work...………...
That is why I am concerned with the hooking it up in the first place. Not that it needs to be there, just if it can reach the limits without having the pump on there.
Although I had gotten an Emissions inspection in Tennessee and got pretty good results. (I consider them good. Don't know if they are though) I got 250ppm HC, 1.62% CO, and 12.66% CO2. This is without a pollution pump.

I will definitely give that a try too. I have some of that freez stuff in a spray can laying around.

I imagine it working like when you shut something in a door, or tailgate and the pressure from that won't let you release the catch. So you have to push against it to overcome the load to relieve the tension on the latch.
I will try this as soon as I get a second person the keep tension on the wrench while I give it a whack.
Well,
seems like the problem soved itslef. I just went for the inspection and passed the emissions part with flying colors. Seems like they are not as strict as I thought. He said it does'nt matter what is on the truck, as long as it is within the limits. Appart from having to fix the left back brake and doing some re-witing to comply with German laws it is good to go for the final check up. Thanks everyone for helping out!
Madness! Lol that has got the be the first time I've heard of someone getting an emissions test and getting passed solely because the numbers were good. They are either of sound rationale over there, or you got lucky. Congrats.

The laws are definitly not reasonable lol. (See all the other changes I have to make to my truck). The technician that I got is really nice and reasonable though so i got lucky. Thing is it would not even need to pass emissions once I get it past the Historic Automobile inspection and it gets tagged as an Antique. But I have more options with registration now, so I wont complain.
