Hello all, just wondering if anyone has put the walker y pipe 45166 with efi manifolds on a 78 f100 C6 2wd it goes on the 300 i6 fyi, i will also be posting this in the 300 i6 forum. thanks
Quite a few folks have. The most common problem is that occasionally the rear 'port' opening is cut too small and has to be enlarged in the rear pipe. I had a poorly bent one which caused me issues but I think I am the only one who had to worry about that. In general it's a drop-in fit. Juggling the intake and both exhaust manifolds as you bolt them in can be fun, since the EFI manifolds are initially held in position by studs not present on the carbed engine, but you can work around that easily various ways - briefly brace the manifolds in place, have a helper, etc. I think almost everyone would recommend replacing the exhaust bolts with grade 8 studs (easily available at Fastenal). May as well replace the intake, too. I went with a small Holley 600 and Offenhauser DP, and the difference in power is really nice. Plus my highway mileage jumped from 11mpg to 14 without any carb fine-tuning.
thank you much, i have had the intake and exhaust off before replaced all bolts and painted everything. should be easy on and off without breaking bolts! an intake isnt exactly in the budget right now, but it is the next upgrade on my list. looking around ebay for a used intake right now.
i have seen people use the water line from the heater core to head the bottom of the manifold, was there once an issue with water seeping through the soft metal? i dont remember where i saw it or which manifold it applied to.

If you cant find the pipe under that number look it up under Walker 15739 comes with a cat and I got it thru Rock Auto.
I am using the Y pipe with the stock intake & carb, just got the truck on the road after 4 year rebuild, and I am happy the way it runs. I cant say how it ran before the pipe change as I did not have the truck on the road.

truth is i dont have a cat and dont need one to pass inspection. would rather just get the simple one. do you have your intake base heated?
I don't know if you can get it with out a cat. When I was looking I could only find it with cat.
BTW I don't run the cat so it sits on the shelf.
Yes I do heat the intake. I found it on eBay, had to make a gasket for it. Because I just got it on the road I can't say how it ran before with the exh. Heating it up but I think it runs great now.

I put one on a 78 4wd. It fit with minimal modifications. No cat, got ours from Summit.
We also got the heating plate for the intake from Raso Enterprises.
thank yah much, i found one on ebay for about 250, i believe it is clifford. wont be till next year that i can get it. may be a better offer between now and then.
